A geothermal system transfer stored heat from the ground, a well or a pond into a brine solution before transferring that heat through refrigeration process into your home in the winter to provide efficient heating in winterbtime. It works the exact same way in the summer, except instead of removing heat from the earth, it rejects the heat from your home into the earth through the refrigeration process, to the brine, and finally into the earth.... If you think about it, the heat you put back into the ground during summer is then removed again to be used during the winter, making the process that much more efficient!
